Bringing Together the Evidence – Science, Practice and Policy

A series of dialogues shaped around the focal area of Climate Justice in the UK and Overseas to be held in partnership between Glasgow Caledonian University, Mary Robinson Foundation - Climate Justice and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

Why?

The specific purpose of these dialogues will be to establish a credible body of evidence - knowledge, information and insight on Climate Justice issues at both a UK and international level. The need for this evidence base is more critical now than ever to underpin Climate Justice as more than just ‘a movement’ and ‘activism’, especially in the run up to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiations in 2015. The intended outcome of this series of dialogues is to firmly establish the evidence base which could be used to contribute to and influence the UNFCCC 2015 discussions as well as shape any future policy considerations in the UK.

How?

This series of dialogues will focus on gathering the evidence, information and views from science, policy and practice to help inform the Climate Justice agenda both now and in the future.

The second dialogue will focus on The Science and Evidence to Underpin Climate Justice.

This dialogue will establish emerging themes and issues from an analysis and synthesis of climate justice literature spanning 10 years based on the GCU - Mary Robinson Foundation Climate Justice Resource Hub. The session will also include discussion of evidence from recent research conducted on climate justice in the UK by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. The session will end with a discussion of the collated evidence base and the research gaps at UK and international level.
